Understanding the solution

In the previous blog, we touched on the problem with “diets”. The biggest flaw is calorie restriction. Internally, a lot is going on when we restrict calories and // or limit proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The biggest piece of information to understand is that “when we begin to cut calories, the body launches potent countermeasures designed to prevent additional weight loss. The more weight we lose, the more forceful the body fights back”. In short, when we limit calories your body slows down your metabolism and tries to store more calories as fat to have as a “fuel reserve” since it believes you are about to go through a starvation.

THE SOLUTION… the philosophy, or rather solution, is “to forget about calories, focus on food quality, eat when hungry until fully satisfied, and follow a few simple lifestyle prescriptions [so] you can conquer cravings, retrain your fat cells, and lose weight permanently”. I highly encourage you to read “Always Hungry?” written by Dr. David Ludwig, MD, PHD (who Times magazine describes as an “Obesity Warrior”) to further understand the history, research and philosophy outlined above. He has experimented and proven how our food choices affect our hormones, metabolism, body weight and overall well-being.

Dr. Ludwig’s nutrition philosophy can help you go from your current nutrition plan to recovering your metabolic health and clearing your body and mind of cravings for processed foods. This is actually the Nutrition Philosophy that I teach to my members and help facilitate.

Another way you can clean the slate to cut cravings and get into the rhythm of a healthy balanced, nutrient dense nutrition plan is by starting with a cleanse or detox and having a plan to follow that incorporates whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense foods.

Cleanse the healthy way and set up for success after with a plan!

We will cover Cleanses and Detoxes in the next blog - stay tuned!!
